Perfect Prose -
May 12, 2009

We all seek perfect prose and compliments the same
Gathering all our perfection for our earthly gain
We all seek perfect pitch that what we sing be true
And the world will take a look and say
Wow, who are you?
But perfect is not always the most perfect thing to do
And compliments never last the way you want them to
So do your best this very day and welcome what is given
And compliments give them away
That is perfection under heaven –

agreed, Ebb. Some of the pieces I made and thought were crap have received high praise. A poem is only so perfect as it is a mirror of the reader. That is when the magic appreciation comes to fruition.

Agreed Noranoir – great comment about the mirror and reader – the magic comes when the words flow – those pieces seem to acquire the truest reward –
thank you for commenting and thank you for stopping by –

And I’m joining the chorus of voices to give you praise for this one! I love it. Your words are so true. Praise comes along for a while. Then it goes away. In the poetry world, it’s especially fleeting. Oh, I love the praise! But I know how it goes away, too. Boy, do I know that one…Lol!
I especially love the second stanza, and “But perfect is not always the most perfect thing to do.” Yes! I know a man who works with the homeless, lives in a crummy apartment, and just got his GED. He is by far greater than I’ll ever be. He spends all of his time giving to others. He is amazing.
Sorry to ramble on! Wonderful poem. It made my evening much brighter.

i couldn’t help but think “as you give, so shall you recieve” – but you’ve illuminated it – the gift isn’t getting it back, it’s the giving.

I love this! It reminds me of how love increases when you share it, instead of diminishing.
