New Wings ..
July 30, 2009

You can not become a butterfly unless you are willing to give up being a caterpiller …………
The mystery of the butterfly is not unlike the mystery of the Holy Spirit working within us. Only when we are willing to surrender our earthly nature to accept the Holy Spirit we will not understand the mystery that lies waiting for us. Together in the blending our two natures, earthly and heavenly we develop the two wings needed that will carry us through this lifetime into the next.
Today My God I pray for your intersession in my life to keep me focused on that mystery so I too, like the butterfly, can take up new wings. bkm

Letting Go –
July 29, 2009

The things we touch have no permanence.
My master would say: there is nothing we can hold onto in this world. Only by letting go can we truly possess what is real.
(Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon)
Only by letting go can we possess what is real –the material world is but a substitution for what we really long for, the Love of the Creator and the Light of that being surrounding us. We spend most of our life seeking this in things that do not last. Let us take time today to seek what is eternal. bkm
Postscripts 1-6
July 26, 2009
1
The postscript -
you penciled
at the end of your note
Made me realize
I am but- an afterthought
2
Your charm bracelet is heavy
with broken hearts
Do you collect them
for show and tell?
3
The circumstances of a
prior commitment
Do not give me license
on your dinner offer
Though-
I am tempted
to try your laughter
with my morning coffee
4
I write myself notes
So I can get through this life
Don’t forget to
Pickup dry-cleaning
1 qt of milk
a dozen eggs
I did not have you on my list
But, I’ve decided to pencil you in
5
Promiscuous – you say I am
tasting of different vintages
For you, label may carry prestige
but, I ask my palette to be
the judge
6
Your morals–
are not well coordinated
with the hat you wear to bed
I can overlook them for my
own pleasure -
Others may not be so
forgiving

Found Virtue
July 23, 2009

I found Wisdom; reflected in a bathroom mirror
There in the dimples that have
Migrated from the rose cheeks
Of youth,
To rest in the cheeks crowning my lower limbs
Naked, She points to the collection of rocks
On my fingers, noting their lack of
Magnificence to those worn by
Ocean shores , their lack of
Brilliance to that of the setting sun
She has been hidden
In time, wrapped tightly in the
Cocoon of learning, laughing, loving
She is not Knowledge, She is not
Time, She is
Wisdom, She does not lie
Nor hold anything back when stripped
And while She begs acceptance for her virtue
“Not Old,” She cries
“I am – Forever Eternal”
