Autumn Rose
September 7, 2009
What color is the rose in autumn, my love?
Yellow was the rose in spring,
when the rain gently fell
caressing the moments,
and our love was everything -
Please tell me again, the color
of the autumn rose, love -
Red being its summertime hue
when in full blossom,
in the sun of the season,
love was all we knew -
Oh, tell me my love,
the shade of the autumn rose
that you will bring to my door!
Is it the color of your
mellow brown eyes, reflecting
the colors from seasons before?

A repost but with Autumn at our doorstep – thought it would be good to revisit it again - bkm

Wow! That is some really impressive wordsmithing! I like how you tied it all in and made brown a beautiful color for a rose. Brava!

Thanks Vic, your comments are inspiring – Love has many colors that change with the seasons – but like the rose – it is always Love. bkm

I agree with Vic. I love the mellow brown eyes. What a lovely poem, Barbara. You have put me in the mood to see those colors. I like the idea of love changing colors but always being love. That is so true!

Thank you Julie and Cindy for your comments – I have not been here as of late because I am busy painting and redecorating my kitchen. Including painting cupboards and walls and adding new lighting and diswasher. When that it done I am going to paint the table and make new curtains. I have a deadline before it starts raining here which is usually the end of Oct.
So if I appear to be absent I am not really – just trying to finish projects. LOL bkm
